Ekta Kapoor ropes in Nimrat Kaur for her first digital series


Ekta Kapoor has recently made her entry into the digital medium where she plans to launch an app that airs exclusive content. The lady has planned a web series. Like all her recent shows, the lady is a working woman. In fact, it is a lot more exciting. It is about the first woman to be inducted into combat in the Indian Army. The TV czarina has finalised the lead actress for the show. Actress Nimrat Kaur who is known for powerhouse work in films has been roped in for the same. The series will be directed by Nagesh Kukunoor.

With the launch of her digital medium, Ekta says she wants to tell stories she always wanted to say. The actress roped in Nimrat who is known for her bold choices and superlative acting chops. Actor Nagesh Kukunoor also has a sizeable body of work to his credit. Some of his noted films are Hyderabad Blues and Dhanak.

Nimrat who won laurels for her work on the American TV show, ‘Homeland’, always says that she looks for something that pushes her boundaries as an actress. The actress also comes from an Army background. The actress also shares Ekta’s vision of digital content that is strong and brave.

Ekta told The Times of India, “When we announced the launch of our digital app, we promised to break stereotypes in storytelling. This series is a strong reinforcement of that commitment. While Nimrat is known for her unconventional choice of roles, Nagesh is known for his alternative style of filmmaking. We are excited to kick-start the announcement with the duo.”

Filmmaker Nagesh Kukunoor was quoted as saying, “The digital revolution in India will be huge. Ekta and I have decided to partner on an exciting show, as she forays into the digital space.
