Recently we have seen a new trend in Bollywood, which almost every other Bollywood actress is following, and that is of launching their own app. Mostly the apps are celeb specific, where they share their fashion and style statement or their latest pics and news about their upcoming films etc. This has been the norm but this is where Preity Zinta stands out and commands respect. And I am sure she will earn yours too once you know what she has done. It so happened that when I was invited to interview Preity Zinta, I instantly jumped on to the opportunity because I’ve been a fan.
The venue was her beautiful office situated at Pali Hill, Bandra. When I complimented her on her office space, she told me, “Thank You, it’s my oldest place. But, ya it’s my first place I ever got. They are actually gonna break this building but they are taking so long, toh bechari khud hi break ho rahi hai.” She further added they are re-doing, re-developing the whole building so it becomes a whole new world. “But ya, it’s very nice and quiet. And when it rains it becomes pretty,” she gushed, obviously a little proud of her space.
She then spoke to me in detail about her app (she insisted on calling it a platform and not an app) called Kavach. While I was bowled over by the research, dedication and hard work she has put in creating this platform, what I loved most was that it was not to talk about herself but to provide the women of our nation a sense of security. Kavach is basically a platform for women’s safety.
During the discussion we also talked about the recent web series called Inside Edge, by Farhan Akhtar, where she reacted to the role of Richa Chadha‘s character being based on her. The kind of fiery and feisty person she is, she didn’t mince her words when she spoke about it but also requested that it’s better we don’t make our interaction about that web series and rather keep it platform specific.
We spoke at length about the platform that she has created, women’s safety in India, creating a better tomorrow for women. She really surprised me as a celeb and as a person. I went in there being a fan of Preity Zinta – the actress, and came out as a fan of Preity Zinta – the person. She is indeed fiery, feisty, real and awesome.
