Tom Cruise’s mother Mary Lee South died peacefully in her sleep last week, as reported by People magazine. The 54 year old star attended the memorial service along with his sisters Lee Ann DeVette, 57, Cass Mapother, 55, and Marian Henry 52.
The service was held at their local Church of Scientology, and was attended by close friends and family.
Mary Lee, who had a strong and loving bond with her son Tom had spoken about him saying, “I was always interested in theater, but I never did anything with it. When I was growing up, if you went to Hollywood, that was really risqué. I guess I was his (Tom’s) greatest audience. He had it in him then. When he asked if he could be an actor, we wholeheartedly agreed. Because we felt it was a God-given talent … So to make a long story short, we gave him our blessing — and the rest is history.”
