Year 2012 saw the release of the first instalment of erotic thriller, Hate Story. The film, thanks to its songs and thriller laced with erotica, turned out to be the surprise success of the year. The second film of the franchise, with completely different cast members hit the screens in 2014 and that, too, turned out to be the sleeper hit. However it was 2015’s Hate Story 3, that solidified its pull at the box office, as that film not only was a major success but also scored half century at the box office.
Hate Story starred Bengali hottie, Paoli Dam, Hate Story 2 starred, Surveen Chawla, while Hate Story 3, saw Zarine Khan and Daisy Shah in the lead role. For Hate Story 4, makers were keen on roping in Urvashi Rautela, but it was reported that she had turned down the role due to fact that the film was high on erotica. But, according to a report by DNA, she has now signed the film.
Now that the steamy scenes in the films are toned down by director Vishal Pandya, Urvashi is a part of the hit franchise. Urvashi confirmed to DNA, “I have indeed signed on the dotted line for two promising films but I am under contract not to reveal the details,” she said. She also revealed that after her chartbuster track in Kaabil, she had rejected several acting offers as she is keen to revive her acting career and is looking for roles where she’ll get to showcase her acting talent rather than just glamour quotient.
Vishal Pandya, too, confirmed the news albeit with a different take on the whole erotica angle in the film. “This installment of Hate Story will be different from the earlier ones in terms of the sensuousness and its bold content. That’s because it is based on a real incident and we are targeting a very different audience. Erotica will definitely not be the mainstay of the film, but that doesn’t mean we will not be catering to the audiences of the already established franchise,” he said.
Well let’s just hope like previous films in the Hate Story franchise, this one too turns out to be an even bigger success and unlike the previous ones, this one receives critical acclaim as well.
